Private Pilot Certificate Requirements

To earn a private pilot certificate, a pilot must:

  • Be 17 years of age (may start training at any age)

  • Receive flight training from an authorized instructor.

  • ​Read, speak, write and understand the English language

  • Meet the Aeronautical experience requirements 

  • Pass a written and practical test.
